We loved this wedding. It was our first time at Dundas Castle and it really wow-ed us. Our daughter was extremely impressed too as she was with us when we did a location visit the day before Jordynn and Khuram's wedding and she pronounced that this is where she wants to get married!
It was great to have everything in the one place with both bride and groom getting ready at the venue, the ceremony in the Auld Keep and then the dinner and evening reception in the pavilion.
Jordynn was extremely nervous in the morning but she held it together well until her walk down the ceremony. Dhol and Pipes were there to play during the day and they are absolutely fantastic together. The fusion of the drums and pipes gives you goosebumps and they are the nicest guys to talk to too. It was the music that got to Jordynn as they played her down to the Auld Keep, and it's moments like that on a wedding that we are privy to and feel so honoured to witness and document.
The ceremony was conducted by Melanie Leckie, who as always gave such a personal service, we always leave feeling like we've gotten to know so much more about our couple through the effort she puts into telling their story and why they are getting married. The Auld Keep is a beautiful, atmospheric setting for the ceremony and it was really lovely to watch.
After signing the register and taking their walk back down the aisle as husband and wife we went up onto the turret of the castle to take advantage of the amazing views in some images. It was a really nice time for Jordynn and Khuram to have a few quiet moments together and take in the fact they are now married. A wedding day is a whirlwind of activity and seeing family and friends that it can feel a bit overwhelming, so some personal time with your new husband and wife is really valuable.
We proceeded with formal family pictures and then portraits of our lovely couple. The Pavilion was set up beautifully for the meal and the speeches gave further insight into what seems to be a fantastic life Jordynn and Khuram have together.
After dinner Khuram changed from his kilt into his traditional bridal outfit and that just gave us an excuse to take them back out for more portraits, by which time the sun had started to come down and give the images a completely different feel. We always love getting back out in the evening for more pictures.
There was a Muslim blessing for the marriage and then Jordynn and Khuram impressed everyone with their first dance routine! They are the first couple of ours to take dance lessons and learn a whole routine for their first dance. It was fantastic!
Here are some of our favourite images from their day.
